A diverse and eclectic selection of works by three of our prestigious and talented artists come together to bridge the gap between abstraction and landscape. All three artists paint in unique lyrical styles.
Laycock is loose and painterly in his depiction of the local landscape of southern Alberta.
Robert Marchessault captures his viewers with an imaginary landscape that elicits the feeling “I have been there before”. With an abstracted background, the trees at times feel as if they are floating.
The David Newkirk works are bursts of colour and line - expression through paint! In these pieces, the balance of the hard-edge form with elements of colourful chaos are observations of life and society.
