“Give Me an interesting sky, a brief horizon above land patterns and only then, perhaps, some small evidence of man.”

My paintings have always referenced a personal journey, no doubt the lingering effects of a rural upbringing now layered and folded into years of seasonal observations.
This accumulation has resulted in a pressing need to leave a painted record.

Two preferences are uppermost; a love of the old landscape tradition of painting on site, small images of places often missed by to-day’s hurried viewer.
Secondly, is the challenge of the large studio canvas., the painterly reach for new meaning and the great mystery always hidden behind that fleeing western horizon.
